How we help

Practical help, coordination and support for members facing a serious or unexpected emergency far from home.

Emergency assistance

Accidents, sudden crises and other serious emergencies are harder to handle in a country that isn’t home. The Fund helps members get the assistance they need, and coordinates it so they aren’t dealing with it alone.

For example

  • An accident at work or on the road
  • A sudden crisis that leaves you without support
  • Being stranded with nowhere to turn

Medical treatment coordination

When members are sick or injured far from home, the Fund helps them find care, understand their options and coordinate treatment in a health system they may not know.

For example

  • A medical emergency
  • An injury that needs treatment
  • Finding your way through hospitals, clinics and paperwork

Travel and evacuation support

If a member is stranded, needs to get home after an emergency, or needs to leave somewhere unsafe, the Fund helps arrange and coordinate the journey.

For example

  • Travel difficulties far from home
  • Getting home after an emergency
  • Leaving a dangerous situation

Family assistance

When a crisis hits a member’s family, whether they live with the member or back home, the Fund offers support and helps work out the next steps.

For example

  • A family crisis at home or abroad
  • Family members covered by a family membership

Disaster relief

After floods, fires and other disasters, the Fund helps affected members with relief where it can.

For example

  • Natural disasters where members live and work
  • Losing your home or belongings in a disaster

Other protection programs

The Fund plans to add other protection programs where available. Each one will have its own eligibility rules, and members will be told what it covers before it starts.

Ask for help

If you’re a member and something has happened, tell us where you are and what’s going on. Your request is kept private.

Who can get help?
Members whose membership is active and whose subscription and other requirements are up to date. Family members can get help through an eligible family membership.
Is help guaranteed?
No. The Fund is a membership-based emergency-support initiative, not an unlimited guarantee. All assistance depends on active membership, subscription requirements, program rules, eligibility, provider arrangements, available funds and the relevant laws.
Not a member yet?

Only the people who handle requests will see this.
