I’m Anduin Mooney. I live in Lents, in southeast Portland.
I spend my day job building and maintaining websites for Goldstar ATM in Oregon City. Ecommerce, lead forms, member tools, landing pages, odd little systems behind the scenes. The kind of stuff that has to actually work, not just look good in a portfolio.
Cascadia is the part I do for smaller businesses.
I kept seeing neighborhood places, shops, bars and other small businesses where the actual place had personality and the website had none. Or the website was broken. Or expensive. Or nobody knew who had the login anymore.
So instead of sending people a pitch about what I could build, I started building the thing.
That’s still how I like doing it.
Make a real demo. Put it on somebody’s phone. See if it feels like their business. Figure the rest out from there.
I like the weird details. The OPEN light in the tavern header. A homepage that tells you who’s playing tonight. A site for tiny collectible cars that shouldn’t look anything like either of those.
That’s the whole “No two alike” thing.
Not because every website needs to be strange.
Because it should look like the business it belongs to.
Four things I’ll put in writing
No templates.
I don’t start with somebody else’s business and swap in your logo.
The design starts with your place, your people, your signs, your colors and the way you talk.
Prices out loud.
The prices are on the website.
You should not need to schedule a meeting to discover whether you can afford the meeting.
One person.
The person answering the email is the person making the website.
No handoff. No account manager. No “I’ll check with the development team.”
You own it.
Your domain should be in your name.
You should have your logins.
And if I disappear off the face of the earth, your business should not disappear with me.
